Najaf Restaurant, located in Deira on Abu Baker Al Siddique Street, is a spot where the flavors of South Indian and Kerala cuisine come through clearly in a simple, no-fuss setting. This full-service eatery carries a familiarity that longtime locals and regular visitors appreciate — it’s the kind of place where the food takes center stage over décor or hype.

The atmosphere leans towards casual and comfortable, with a steady hum of locals dropping in for lunch or dinner. The seating isn’t plush, but it’s practical, catering well to families and groups looking for a relaxed meal without the crowd pressure common in busier Dubai dining spots.

Foodwise, the focus here is clearly on South Indian classics and Kerala-style dishes. The Chicken 65 is a standout, often mentioned by returning customers as a go-to item, crispy and with a well-balanced spicy kick. Porotta chicken 65 and shredded chilly chicken also hold a strong local following. For those wanting a hearty meal, the chicken and fish biryanis are popular choices, offering richly spiced rice dishes that pair well with the restaurant’s signature side breads like the layered wheat porotta or soft chappathi.

Breakfast options like egg roast served with appam or dosa reflect the authentic regional flavors the kitchen brings to the table. Starters such as chicken lolly pop provide a familiar, crispy bite that fits well with the overall homely vibe.

Najaf tends to attract people who value flavor and portion over ambiance — those willing to wait a bit during peak hours for food that recalls decades of local dining traditions. The environment isn’t rushed, making it well-suited for small groups or families craving comfort food with a touch of nostalgia, especially during quieter weekday evenings or weekends.

If you’re visiting from out of town or just in the neighborhood, expect a straightforward experience focused on the food’s authenticity, with friendly staff who help keep the flow smooth. While it may lack the polish of newer trendy spots, Najaf’s steady popularity shows its solid place in Dubai’s culinary mix, especially among those who grew up savoring these dishes back home or who want a reliable taste of South Indian flavors in Deira.

This place literally does the best chicken 65 ON EARTH. Even though it takes 30 mins for me to reach this place I would happily go there for my craving any day.

Amazing food at affordable price. Very friendly staff. Tried porotta,Appam and beef pepper fry. Beef pepper fry was really good. Moderately spiced and tender meat. Good option to go with family . Restaurant is not so crowded all the time. Heard The biriyani is also good. Need to try that next time. Overall a nice experience.

Truly enjoyed the food from our old Najaf Restaurant, now known as Calicut Topform ... We had the famous Chicken 65 and it brought back memories from the 90's from when we had started visiting the restaurant on Naif road ... #blessedbeyondmeasure
